Giles is a Fellow of SMPTE and has over 25 years experience in technology, strategy and leadership roles. He is a proven technologist and business leader as well as a well known public speaker within TV & Media industry.
Giles graduated from the Queen’s University of Belfast with a degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineeering and a Ph.D. in Control & Robotics before working in product development for a number of years as a software engineer, R&D manager and solution architect. He was SVP Technology at Tandberg Television, worked for 6 years as CTO & Head of Portfolio for Ericsson’s Tv & Media business and was CEO for 3 years of Ericsson’s Video Compression Business Line.
When he isn’t working with software and technology Giles enjoys climbing and mountaineering as well as spending time with his family. He is an FA qualified football coach, gymnastics judge and mountain leader.
